Case Study: Superior Industries International

Superior Industries International implements TRUedx to centralize global electronic data interchange

Superior Industries recently implemented TRUedx, Trubiquity's on-demand EDI solution, to integrate the company's data exchange processes and keep pace with booming market demand.

The Challenge

Integrating electronic data exchange systems and standards between manufacturing facilities and across geographies.

Headquartered in Van Nuys, Calif., Superior Industries International is one of the world's largest OEM suppliers of cast aluminum wheels for the automotive industry. Superior operates five manufacturing facilities, employing 3,300 people in the United States and Mexico and producing aluminum wheels for the major vehicle platforms of the world's leading automobile and light truck manufacturers. Superior found its business booming, and the company recognized an opportunity to increase manufacturing capacity to keep pace with demand. The company sought to increase efficiencies in its manufacturing operations through the use of a standardized electronic data interchange system.

Superior Industries wanted to execute on a strategy that would unify data exchange protocols and processes across the manufacturing organization, improve collaboration between facilities and reduce time and costs associated with data exchange. The company partnered closely with Trubiquity to achieve this goal through the TRUedx electronic data interchange platform and a team of Trubiquity experts who helped Superior implement an entirely new ERP process.

The Solution

A centralized, online data interchange system that improves efficiency and includes support from Trubiquity's EDI experts.

Superior Industries International selected TRUedx, Trubiquity's world-class B2B electronic data interchange platform. In addition to implementing the software-as-a-service (SaaS) based TRUedx system, Superior also enjoyed the extensive ERP integration experience and 24/7/365 technical support that Trubiquity's professional services team delivers with each implementation. TRUedx provided Superior with the visibility to transmit and track data more collaboratively and efficiently than ever before.

Trubiquity assigned a full-time dedicated senior business and technical consultant to review Superior's data workflow and business requirements. This strategic analysis identified new opportunities to exceed customer expectations and created implementation solutions to help pursue these opportunities through TRUedx and QAD integration gateway applications. To help make the TRUedx integration process run smoothly, Superior took advantage of Trubiquity's Extended Support program, which included full support for Superior's entire EDI operations with ERP support for interfacing and related functional areas.

The Result

TRUedx helped Superior Industries International to completely centralize its electronic data interchange and enterprise resource planning systems, allowing the company to standardize data communications between its manufacturing facilities, automate key processes between trading partners and refocus on core business functions like shipping, receiving and purchasing. The level of data visibility found within TRUedx enabled Superior to monitor its data workflows in real-time without having to go to the IT department for information. In addition to TRUedx's SaaS-based EDI management, Trubiquity is managing Superior's QAD gateways, helping to integrate data from the company's ERP operations into the system as well.

Superior Industries' implementation of TRUedx has also opened the door to help identify new ways to use B2B and integration technology to drive continuous improvement in the company's efficiencies. Superior is partnering with Trubiquity on additional projects that will help meet increasing OEM customer demand and automate shipping processes and data sharing with outside service providers, delivering more effective inventory control.
